History Teachers: your countries' history in collaboration with other peers

What if history teachers (and others) began to write and maintain an alternative, online History Book for their own region / country.

This could be a wonderful alternative, written by authors living and breathing the current times, to publish (and now, online media) educational materials.

Ideally, teachers in the future could select free materials (from the Commons) written by a great number of collaborators, offering, in theory, a more accurate depiction of historical events than the material that is often found in books presented by large publishers.
